BOB SANDLIN Water clear; 64–68 degrees; 4.78’ low. Black bass are good on Texas rigged soft plastics. Some topwater action noted on cloudy days. Crappie are fair on jigs and minnows. White bass are fair on slabs. Catfish are fair on trotlines.
BONHAM Water stained, 62–66 degrees; 1.67’ low. Black bass are good on weightless soft plastics, medium crankbaits and Carolina rigged soft plastics in shallower water. Crappie are good along the bank and pier in the park, also in cattails and boat docks, and along the bridges around the lake. Best catches have been on minnows and jigs. Catfish is good on Black Salty and cut bait along the bank in the park area and drifting as the presentation.
BRAUNIG Water clear. Black bass are fair on chartreuse crankbaits and Rat–L–Traps. Striped bass are good down rigging spoons near the dam and jetty. Redfish are slow. Channel and blue catfish are very good on shrimp, cheesebait, and cut bait. Yellow catfish are slow.
BRIDGEPORT Water clear; 62–67 degrees; 15.94’ low. Black bass are good on Megabass crankbaits around shallow cover as well as Texas rigged Berkley Havoc craws in Bama Bug. Crappie are slow on minnows. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair on slabs. Channel catfish are good on trotlines.
BROWNWOOD Water stained; 63–67 degrees; 11.11’ low. Black bass to 5 pounds are good on Bass Hogg jigs, watermelon and green pumpkin soft plastics, and spinnerbaits around docks. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are excellent on minnows and chartreuse jigs off Kirkland docks. Crappie are very good on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs over brush piles. Channel catfish are slow. Blue catfish to 8 pounds are good on trotlines baited with live bait. Yellow catfish to 40 pounds are good on trotlines baited with live bait.
BUCHANAN Water lightly stained; 66–70 degrees; 28.63’ low. Black bass are good on Bleeding Shad Rat–L–Traps, white Terminator spinnerbaits, and weightless wacky rigged green pumpkin Whacky Sticks along break lines of flats in 6–18 feet. Striped bass are fair trolling Curb’s bucktail jigs and drifting live bait from Shaw to Flag Island. White bass are fair trolling Shad Raps along Hog Island, and jigging Pirk Minnows and Tiny Traps above Paradise Point. Crappie are fair on minnows and white tube jigs. Channel catfish are good on live bait and cut bait. Yellow and blue catfish are good on juglines and trotlines baited with live bait.

CANYON LAKE Water lightly stained; 67–71 degrees; 9.54’ low. Black bass are fair on root beer/green flake Baby Brush Hogs along break lines and deep flats in bays, and on topwaters and flukes in feeder creeks. Striped bass are slow. White bass are good on Road Runners upriver in 5–15 feet. Crappie are fair on blue tube jigs and live minnows over brush piles. Channel catfish are fair in the upper end of the lake. Yellow and blue catfish are fair on juglines and trotlines baited with live bait.
CEDAR CREEK Water clear; 63–67 degrees; 3.16’ low. Black bass are good on finesse jigs and weightless wacky worms. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on live shad. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are fair on trotlines and cut shad.
CHOKE CANYON Water clear; 70–74 degrees; 19.34’ low. Black bass are good on watermelon spinnerbaits, Texas rigged lizards, and large worms. White bass are slow. FAIRFIELD Fishing has been slow since the fish kill in September of 2010. TPWD has discontinued stocking the lake after another kill in early September 2011. Redfish and black bass survived the kill in limited numbers.
FALCON Water stained; 72–76 degrees; 41.52’ low. Black bass are fair on watermelon and green pumpkin soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and deep running crankbaits. Striped bass are slow. Crappie are slow. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on frozen shrimp, stinkbait, nightcrawlers, and cut bait under cormorants. Yellow catfish are slow. FAYETTE Water stained. Black bass are good on pumpkinseed soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and Rat–L–Traps. Channel and blue catfish are fair on shrimp and stinkbait.
FORK Water clear; 64–69 degrees; 4.39’ low. Black bass are slow on Texas rigged craws in green pumpkin – some fish being caught on beds. Best bed baits have been Berkley Havoc Craws in white. Yellow bass are slow on minnows. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on prepared bait.
FT. PHANTOM HILL Water clear; 59–64 degrees; 11.71’ low. Black bass are fair on chatterbaits and Texas rigs. Crappie are fair on minnows and jigs. White bass are fair to good on slabs. Catfish are fair to good on cut bait.
GIBBONS CREEK Water clear. Black bass are fair on watermelon and green pumpkin soft plastics, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits. Crappie are good on minnows and chartreuse tube jigs. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and liver.
