Hello all,

Scattered showers and thunderstorms will begin to develop across the region by mid afternoon due to ample sunshine and a weak outflow boundary moving in from the north. This activity will diminish by late evening as daytime heating is lost. While widespread severe weather is not expected, some small hail will be possible, along with gusty winds and numerous cloud to ground lightning strikes.

In addition to the thunderstorms today we are expecting additional development overnight across areas along and north of a line from Brenham to Huntsville to Crockett. Areas north of this line can expect around 1 inch of rainfall overnight, with isolated amounts approaching 3 inches. This rainfall area will sag slowly southward into the rest of the area Friday morning and bring a threat for heavy rainfall to all of southeast Texas through Friday evening. A flood watch may be issued later today or tonight depending upon how much rainfall we receive this afternoon and expected development overnight.
