Crappie are good on live minnows and jigs. White bass are good on Humdingers and topwaters. Catfish are fair to good on trotlines or juglines with Redneck’s Catfish Bait Soap. Barefoot Bay and Titus Park are the only usable ramps.
BRAUNIG Water clear. Black bass are fair on crankbaits and watermelon soft plastic worms in reeds. Striped bass are good on silver and gold spoons and marble spinnerbaits near the jetty and dam. Redfish are good on perch, shrimp, shad, tilapia, and silver spoons. Channel catfish are fair on liver, shrimp, and cut bait near the dam. Blue catfish are fair on cut bait and live bait.
BRIDGEPORT Water clear; 62–67 degrees; 12.30’ low. Black bass are good on shallow running crankbaits in shad patterns and TN Shad Jackall ASKA 60SR squarebills along main lake points (schooling reported in middle to backs of creeks). Crappie are good on jigs and minnows. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on slabs (best action mid day). Channel catfish are fair on cut and prepared bait.
BROWNWOOD Water lightly stained; 68–72 degrees; 15.88’ low. Black bass are fair on medium running crankbaits, chartreuse buzzbaits, and watermelon worms over brush piles in 8–15 feet. Hybrid striper are slow. White bass are good on Li’l Fishies and minnows off lighted docks at night. Crappie are slow. Channel catfish are fair on cut bait and shrimp over baited holes. BUCHANAN Water clear; 66–70 degrees; 31.95’ low. Black bass are good on white buzzbaits, Bleeding Shad Rat–L–Traps, and shad Flukes in larger creeks. Striped bass are good on plastic swim baits, Red Fins, and live bait along the river channel. White bass are fair on Li’l Fishies and Spoiler Shads. CALAVERAS Water clear. Black bass are fair on dark soft plastic worms, spinnerbaits, and crankbaits near the dam. Striped bass are slow. Redfish are good on perch and tilapia near the dam. Channel and blue catfish are good on liver, shrimp, and cheesebait. Yellow catfish are slow.
CANYON LAKE Water clear; 64–68 degrees; 10.19’ low. Black bass are good on Fat Free Shads, white/red spinnerbaits, and watermelon Flukes in over brush piles on secondary points. Striped bass are fair to good on Pirk Minnows and Red Fins over humps early. White bass are fair on Li’l Fishies along the river channel. Smallmouth bass are good on smoke JDC curl tail grubs and green pumpkin tubes in 10–20 feet. Crappie are good on minnows and green crappie jigs upriver. Channel catfish are slow. CEDAR CREEK Water lightly stained; 62–68 degrees; 7.60’ low. Black bass are good on Texas rigged worms, shakyheads, and finesse jigs around docks. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are good on live shad. Crappie are fair to good on minnows. Catfish are fair drifting cut shad.
CHOKE CANYON Water clear; 67–71 degrees; 11.49’ low. Black bass are fair on watermelon spinnerbaits and soft plastics in 10–20 feet. White bass are slow. Crappie are fair on minnows. Channel and blue catfish are good on stinkbait and minnows in 5–15 feet. Yellow catfish are fair on live perch and goldfish.

CONROE Water fairly clear; 68–71 degrees; 8.13’ low. Black bass are good on pumpkinseed soft plastics and spinnerbaits in 10–25 feet. Striped bass are good on live minnows. Crappie are fair on minnows and blue tube jigs. Catfish are fair on stinkbait and live bait.
COOPER Water lightly stained; 62–67 degrees; 12.92’ low. Black bass are good on shallow crankbaits, spinnerbaits and Texas rigged worms throughout the day. Crappie are good on minnows. White bass are good on slabs. Hybrid striper are fair to good on Sassy Shad and live shad. Catfish are good on prepared bait and cut bait. Doctor’s Creek is the only open ramp.
FAIRFIELD Fishing has been slow since the fish kill in September of 2010. TPWD has discontinued stocking the lake after another kill in early September 2011. Redfish and black bass survived the kill in limited numbers.
FALCON Water clear from Marker 14 south, stained above; 70–73 degrees. Black bass are good on deep running crankbaits and jigs in 12–20 feet. Crappie are excellent on shiners and jigs. Striped bass are still in the lake in very limited numbers. Channel and blue catfish are excellent on shrimp and stinkbait. Yellow catfish are slow. Everyone in a boat must have a Mexico fishing license (if fishing the Mexico side) whether fishing or not.
FAYETTE Water clear. Black bass are fair on chartreuse and watermelon Carolina rigged soft plastics over grass in 5–15 feet. Red ear perch are good on worms in 5–15 feet. Channel and blue catfish are slow.
FORK Water fairly clear; 62–68 degrees; 7.61’ low. Black bass are good on black/blue flipping jigs rigged with LFT Flipper – concentrate on the wood cover near creek channel bends. The shallow bite is good on squarebill crankbaits. The deep spoon bite is good on main lake points and along creek channels. The night bite has been good after midnight. Crappie are good on minnows and jigs. Catfish are good on cut shad and prepared bait.
FT. PHANTOM HILL Water clear; 58–66 degrees; 9.87’ low. Black bass are fair to good on Texas rigs and spinnerbaits. Crappie are fair on minnows. White bass are fair to good on Road Runners. Catfish are good on nightcrawlers.
GIBBONS CREEK Water clear. Black bass are fair on watermelon soft plastics and Rat–L–Traps. Crappie are fair on minnows. Catfish are good on shrimp and live bait.

GRAPEVINE Water clear; 63–68 degrees; 5.48’ low. Black bass are good on Texas rigged worms, watermelon finesse jigs, and spinnerbaits along main lake points. Baitfish are concentrating at mouths of creeks and pockets. Crappie are good on minnows. White bass are good on topwaters and Rat–L–Traps. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers and cut shad.
GREENBELT Water stained; 52–65 degrees; 37.63’ low. Black bass are fair on topwaters early, later switching to Texas rigs and Rat–L–Traps. Crappie are fair to good on live minnows. The Old Marina Point ramp is still open.
HOUSTON COUNTY Water clear; 68–70 degrees; 3.65’ low. Black bass are fair on silver Rat–L–Traps near the dam and at mid–lake around brush in 9–13 feet. Crappie are slow. Red ear bream are slow. Channel and blue catfish to 5 pounds are fair on stinkbait in 19 feet.
HUBBARD CREEK 57–65 degrees; 14.5’ low. Black bass are good on spinnerbaits, Texas rigs and weightless flukes. Crappie are fair on live minnows. Catfish are fair to good on nightcrawlers.

White bass are excellent on white SSS Slabs and tailspins – schooling on points early and late. Striped bass and hybrid striper are good on 4” to 6” white or shad pattern Sassy Shad in the shallows early then suspending deep during the day – drifting live bait is also producing. Boating is allowed, but boaters are cautioned to reduce their speed because the spray caused by higher speeds can be dangerous if inhaled.
