In Angela’s own words.

Last night, January 26, 2010, was the West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce Annual Awards Banquet. Pictured on the left is the 2009 Small Business of the Year Award. I wasn’t even going to tell you that I had won because I did not want anyone to think I was boasting. My dear friend who is the Owner/Broker of Elite Texas Properties, Beryl Tobin, told me that I needed to tell y’all and you would not think I was boasting. I asked my husband how and if I should do it. He told me, “Angela, just do it with the same gratitude that you always do everything with.” So here I am sharing it with the people that I dearly love… all of you!

When they announced Hometown Journey Magazine as the recipient I could not help but to cry tears of joy over how much God has truly blessed me. In my mind, through tear filled eyes, I immediately praised Him and I thought about each of you. I know that there are so many wonderful businesses out there, and at first I did not feel worthy of such an esteemed honor, and I still struggle with it. Then during my prayers of thanksgiving last night I thought, ‘It should not surprise me so much because that is the true Grace of God. He always gives us more than we deserve’. To the advertisers, thank you so much for supporting Hometown Journey and taking this way beyond a business relationship. We have truly become dear friends and I love each of you so very much. To those who have participated in Hometown Journey Magazine over the past four years, thank you. To each person that has subscribed, thank you. To those that read it each month, thank you. I dedicate this award to all of you. I give God all of the honor, glory, and praise!

To the West Chambers County Chamber of Commerce, thank you for allowing me to grow through you. Over the past four years I have truly learned that to be the best member I can, and to utilize my membership to its optimal level, it takes dedication on my part as well. You can’t… as hard as you try, do it all. My participation is of great importance when it comes to working together to build a strong and long-lasting partnership. Missy, thank you so much for allowing me to express my ideas and feelings (although at times, it was packed with some drama). Ha! I appreciate that you took them seriously and worked with me through the rough times. That is what makes you a dynamic President of the Chamber. Tracie, you have truly been such an encouragement to me and are always there no matter how many times I call. You both work so hard for the businesses that you serve. I know sometimes it is hard to see that amongst all of the busyness that life truly entails. But, I have taken notice, and I thank God each day, that together as people, we have grown in such beautiful ways. I sincerely thank you and the entire Board of Directors for choosing me as the 2009 Small Business of the Year. It is something that I will treasure as a precious reminder of what staying true to God’s calling, hard work, perseverance, and building great relationships with each person that I come into contact with can bring.
